I would not have your students do overly complex tessellations involving reflections and rotations.
They need to understand that all of the mathematical transformations can be expressed in tessellations. The students cut out their finished piece and assemble it into a tessellation mural/poster/bulletin board display along with their peers. The first thing you have to do is teach the students what a tessellation is.They personalize their piece by answering questions about themselves, like their favorite things and when their birthday is.Students each work individually on an abstract tessellation piece of a person.Here’s how my tessellated All About Me activity works: This “We Are All Connected” All About Me Tessellation Activity is available for purchase in my Teachers Pay Teachers store, HERE.
